Formable Interconnect
Cable Assemblies
for Fixed Wiring
Formable cables that can be bent and shaped by hand — and hold their form. Superior insertion loss vs. semi-rigid cables. Six variants covering 18 GHz up to 100 GHz, rated -30 to +85 °C (MWX461: -65 to +125 °C).

The Formable Alternative to Semi-Rigid
The 4 and 5 Series are designed for fixed wiring inside and between equipment in the microwave band. Unlike semi-rigid cables, these assemblies can be bent and shaped by hand and retain their form — eliminating custom bending tools while delivering lower insertion loss than equivalent semi-rigid cables. The 4 Series replaces semi-rigid cables; the 5 Series replaces semi-flexible cables.

4 Series — Semi-Rigid Replacement
Replaces conventional semi-rigid coaxial cables. Excellent formability with lower insertion loss. Four variants from 18 GHz to 67/100 GHz.
5 Series — Semi-Flexible Replacement
Replaces semi-flexible coaxial cables. Two variants at 18 GHz covering the most common semi-flexible cable sizes.
4 Series — 4 Variants
All 4 Series variants share 50 Ohm impedance and formable construction. Covers 18 GHz to 100 GHz depending on connector choice.
ø2.2 semi-rigid replacement — slim 2.5 mm OD
ø3.6 semi-rigid replacement — lowest loss in 4 Series
40 GHz — lightest at 17 g/m
Ultra-slim 1.33 mm — up to 100 GHz with 1.0 mm connector
5 Series — 2 Variants
The 5 Series replaces semi-flexible cables at 18 GHz. Both variants use SMA (m) Straight connectors as standard.
Semi-flexible ø2.1 replacement — 10 mm bend radius
Semi-flexible ø3.45 replacement — lowest loss in 5 Series
Technical Comparison
All specifications are typical values. RoHS compliant. Characteristic impedance 50 Ohm on all variants.

Simple Criteria for Cable Selection
All 4 & 5 Series cables share formable construction and 50 Ohm impedance. Choose based on frequency, insertion loss requirement, and which semi-rigid or semi-flexible cable you are replacing.
Lower Insertion Loss
Choose a larger outer diameter cable (MWX412, MWX512)
Higher Frequency
Choose MWX441 (40 GHz) or MWX461 (67–100 GHz)
Best Flexibility
Choose a smaller outer diameter cable (MWX461 at 1.33 mm)
Semi-Rigid Replacement
4 Series: MWX411 (ø2.2) or MWX412 (ø3.6). 5 Series: ø2.1 / ø3.45
The EMF Series Family
The full EMF product family covers RF and microwave cable assemblies for every test and measurement application.
